What's actually happening in your cabin
Your air conditioning works by passing warm cabin air over a cold evaporator hidden deep inside the dashboard. As it does, moisture condenses on the fins — which is why a puddle appears under the car on a hot day.
That evaporator stays dark and damp. Add the dust, pollen, skin cells and traffic grime pulled in through the cabin filter and it becomes an ideal surface for bacteria, yeasts and mould spores to settle and multiply.
The smell you notice for the first few seconds after switching the fan on is that build-up being disturbed by moving air. Air fresheners sit on top of it. Once the layer has formed, it keeps coming back until the surfaces the air travels over are treated.
A neglected system also breathes that air straight at you and your passengers, which is why some people only sneeze or feel stuffy in the car.

How our machine cleans it
An atom nebuliser doesn't spray — it breaks the solution into a mist fine enough to follow the air. That means it reaches the vents, ducting and evaporator area that a can of spray can't.

The solution is antibacterial and works on the surfaces the mist reaches. It isn't a substitute for a physical evaporator deep-clean or a new cabin filter — if your system needs either, we'll say so and quote for it separately. We don't offer any warranty or guarantee on refrigerant or repairs.
Common questions
- What's the difference between the aerosol treatment and the nebuliser clean?
- Every completed A/C service includes a complimentary antibacterial aerosol ventilation treatment. The atom nebuliser clean is a separate, deeper treatment: it produces a far finer mist, runs for longer and is aimed at cabins that already smell.
- How much is it?
- £60 on its own, or £30 (half price) when booked with an A/C service.
- How long does it take?
- Allow around 30 to 45 minutes for the treatment itself, and a little longer if we're carrying out an A/C service at the same time.
- Will it fix any smell?
- It treats odour-causing bacteria in the ventilation path, which is the usual cause. If the smell comes from a blocked drain, a heavily contaminated evaporator, damp carpets or a leak, we'll tell you what we've found and quote for the right work instead. A cabin filter change or an evaporator deep-clean is quoted separately.
- Can you do it at my home or workplace?
- Yes. We carry the equipment on the van, so the treatment can be done at our Charlton base or at your location.
- How often should it be done?
- Only when needed. Most cars benefit from it once a year or when a smell comes back, often alongside a cabin filter change.
